Holy crap, I must have been busy this morning. It is 8:30 and this is the first I have written!
Long weekend, and to be perfectly honest, not a lot of noteworthy incidents. Went to the museum on Thursday, which the boys loved. Butterflies were the highlight, despite the fact the Dax did not care for the winged things getting that close to him.
Friday we were going to take them bowling, but once you started breaking down the cost, it would have cost like $50 and that didn’t seem worth it. Sorry, kids. It will be cheaper to just stay after normal bowling some time and get an extra game that way. We did take them to MacDonald’s so that made them happy.
We were in the pool a lot, we were outside a lot. All of us got a lot of sun. My boys are looking rather golden.
Fireworks were fun. We went down to Redondo Beach on some patch of grass near the pier and watched from there. The boys sat in our laps, both mesmerized. Bobby did at one point say to me, “I am a little scared” but he was good in a minute or two. By the time it was done, they were thrilled with the whole spectacle. They both did great, too, considering how late it was. We tired them out in the day, had them take a late nap and headed out about 30 minutes before their normal bedtime. Both were happy and cheerful. Dax drank like a gallon of milk there, freaked a smidge when he ran out, but other than that, no real issues. We got home at 11 or so, and sure, they were tired, but they kept it together.
Yesterday gravity was mad. And it took it out on Dax in a big way. The kid bumped his head like 4 times, stubbed his toe, hit his arm, fell out of bed, and just hurt from the various things that happened. Such a shame, too, since he had such a monumental potty training day. Saturday he did great on the pot. He had been constipated, mostly from fear of pooping on the toilet, and kept saying, “I not pooping!” while screaming in tears. He finally, after sitting on the pot for a bit and eating some fruit snacks, pooped. It scared him at first, but my cheers, Ken’s cheers, even Bobby’s cheers helped him out a lot. He pooped a second time and even was holding his pee Saturday night at fireworks. I was amused that of course the day he decided to be potty trained was the day we had no access to a bathroom.
Sunday morning, he and I were up and he turns to me, still in jammies and tells me he needs to poop. No joke. So we went to the bathroom, took off his diaper, he sat on the pot and pooped! He was so proud! I was so proud. He wore underwear all day yesterday. Not one accident. He wore a diaper for nap (one step at a time) but other than that, he did great! I am thinking that after daycare he can start wearing his underwear. I meant to remind Ken to tell Maria about the potty training success so that she could encourage him to use the toilet there. He can’t quite get up on the toilet by himself, but I don’t mind that. I am just jazzed he figured it all out. I figure this weekend will be a good test of how well he is doing since we will be home. He did do the whole wanting to pee like every 10 minutes thing, which was annoying, but if it gets him thinking about it, I will deal.
Today is a working day, since really I have not been able to look at accounts in almost a week what with reports and vacation. I have my aging and I have been powering through it. Kevin and Bean are back (thank goodness!), and end in like 10 minutes, so I just need to pee and I am set for some power calling. My email buddies are either not at work today or are in the process of moving (Hi Stephanie!!) so despite loving distraction, I am ok with there being very little.
Ok, side note, F Farm Town on FB. Look, I am getting into it, I admit it. I planted like a crazy woman this weekend, and got all jazzed about leveling and everything. But when it interrupts my dreams all night since all I could think about was harvesting and making sure I visited everyone’s farms, then we have issues.
Poor Bobby woke up crappy this morning. He has been so used to 4 days of mommy being home, he was a little bummed he had to go back to Maria’s. Hopefully once he is there for a bit he feels better.
Woo! I have been so busy I forgot to write anything else. It is a few minutes till noon, so yay!
