I should have called out today.
I am just tied today. It was a long weekend. Saturday was
spent cleaning like a crazy woman. This was done in between kitten drop off and
pick up for their spay appointment. It was a lot of work through the day, but
the house looked pretty good come Saturday night.
It was short lived.
Sunday took us to Costco to get provisions for dinners and
what not. It brought us home with a new television. We had been planning on the
new acquisition for some time, especially what with the one we had having lots
of technical difficulties. I didn’t expect to have the new tv until February.
In fact, Ken had been asking me the night before about how we would move things
around for the new set and I pointed out that I had some time to think about
it. Apparently, not so much. LOL!
The new tv is cool, and it seems too nice for us. Yeah, I
still think of us as not allowed to have nice things. The best thing about it
in my eyes is that it is mounted on the wall, leaving shit tons of room. We are
now in the process of re-doing the shelf on the one side of it, moving Hal and
his mice over to the same unit the printer and DVD are on. It is very doable.
It will make it look nicer overall. It will just take some time. It eliminates
one shelving unit, which is cool since it helps unclutter the room even more. I
am loving this part.
I have to say, Costco was making me want to win the lottery.
I found a wonderful dining table with chairs that I fell in love with. We also
found some amazing couches that would be a nice look in the living room. I had
this overwhelming desire to redecorate. Of course, it would be better if our
house had room for things like a dining room.
Dax managed to get not one, not two, but 3 splinters
yesterday. The first one was easy. It came out quick and he was in good spirits
the entire time. The second two happened at the same time, with one pointing
towards the nail on his finger and the other wrapped around the pad of the same
finger. It was not going to be easy by any stretch of the imagination. I set to
work on it, which only allowed me one small fragment. Dax was so worked up he
was sweating profusely and couldn’t calm down. It was like that clip in which
Homer just walks around screaming.
Ken got home and he took over. We had Dax soak his finger in
warm salt water to hopefully loosen the debris. It was not happening. He even
took a bath and we tried again but with no luck. He is currently bandaged and
we will hopefully get more progress on it this afternoon. It is frustrating.
I feel like I have so much to do at home. I need to finish
laundry. I want to work on the living room that is still in chaos due to the
tv. I may just need to suck it up and deal with my home the way it is for a
while. I will be home soon enough, even though much of that time will be spent
on homework. I can at least continue work on the laundry.
I did enjoy the Golden Globes. It is my happy making time in
front of the set. I may not be as up to date on many of the movies as I used to
be, but I still get excited watching everyone. The talk of the town this morning
is Jodie Foster’s Cecil B. DeMille speech, but honestly, it all makes a lot of
sense to me. She has been in the spotlight since she was 3. She was always
pretty private, yet one crazed fan made a lot of that hard for her by shooting
the president to impress her. I would imagine that would fuck with anyone. On
top of that, she has been private about her sexuality. Yet these days, that can’t
be the case, so to come to terms with just openly telling folks has got to be weird.
I applaud her and hope that she stays as happy as she seems to be.
It doesn’t help that I am all kinds of congested. I think
the massive cleaning kicked up all kinds of dust particles that have caused my
whole head to rebel. It is super annoying on many levels.
