Another weekend of lots of cool family time. Friday night we went to Cozymel’s for dinner with the boys. They loved it. They have some yummy chicken they enjoyed, which is awesome for Ken and I since we love that place. I can’t wait for the boys to actually enjoy some Mexican food. It was a good meal, and we were all beat afterwards. The boys went to bed and Ken and I watched Hancock. It was a pretty good movie. I am really enjoying these movie nights. I wish we had gotten around to watching Superbad, but maybe we can do that this evening.
Saturday was spent cleaning house. I had thought that Brandy was possibly coming over, but that didn’t happen. The good news, my house got clean! I also was able to dye my hair, which was a good thing.
We decided to take the boys to McDonalds so they could play in the playground. Man, they love the hell out of that place. We went to a different one this time, one that was bigger. Way cool. They ran for like 45 minutes. It was past their bedtime when we left, and Dax was spent. At one point, a little boy about his age (I have a hard time with kids age since my boys are way too big) had pushed him. I assume it was nothing. The little boy felt bad and tried to hug Dax. He was having none of it. He put his hands behind his back and walked away. Awesome. The best part was that even in his crankiness, he is so freaking charming. Multiple parents told me how cute he was and you could see the total sympathy when he was crying.
Sunday started iffy, but it worked out in the end. We had bowling, and we were reminded about the kite festival that was happening that day. Ken and I discussed the game plan for naps and logistics. We decided that due to the time change, and the boys being tired, we would nap them early and head down to the pier around 1 or so. My folks were going to go around 11. So we were going to meet them down there. My plan had not been to meet them at 11, however, when I told Ken my parent’s plans, it came across as this was our new plans. We argued a bit over plans and the defensiveness on both our part in how we were trying to come up with what we were doing. Once we calmed down, and just let the boys kind of decide our plans, we were fine again.
The boys didn’t nap, so we packed up a lunch and headed down to the pier around 11:30. They were both happy and good and we got to the beach and flew some kites. It was a little chilly. Not bad, though. Lots of kites, which were fun to watch. Once Ken got one of ours up, I held on to it for a while. The boys gave it a spin a few times, but not much, as really, just standing there holding string isn’t exactly exciting for kids under 5.
My folks left when it started to get a little cold. We ended up going up to the pier where there were some yo yo competitions and a Tae Kwon Do demonstration that the kids loved. Bobby was mesmerized. He had seen a bit of it before when my mom and him went to the bathroom. I was glad we could watch the whole show right up front. They broke boards, they jumped, and just did some of their stances. Dax was sitting in front of me, and would stand up to do the things like they were doing. Then he would even bow when they bowed. So we took a brochure since they said you could get a free class to test it out. So we may get Bobby to try it. Dax is about 6 months too young, but I have a feeling if we got Bobby doing it, Dax will be more than ready by the time he hits 3.
The boys napped in the car on the way home, so we ran and got cat food, and some toys the Braskins had. It was nice to have errands since I so didn’t want to take them out of the car while they were so sound. Bobby even let out a real snore followed by the whistle. LOL!
They had Dave Gahan in studio. Now I have a craving for some DM this morning. Perhaps I will bust out Ichipod.
I just had to change my password for this thing for work. I was a little saddened since it included Saavik’s name. I felt like by changing it, she was gone. I know, she is gone, but this was like really gone. Made me sad.
So there may be nothing funnier than this phone call.
“So when you get home, don’t be surprised if you find honey in places in the kitchen.” Apparently Ken was boiling honey to transfer it to the bear container and it exploded. He said there was honey EVERYWHERE. The brunt was on his face. I wonder if I will be coming home to a clean shaven husband.
