I really enjoy my uneventful days.
The afternoon did bring news of Bobby having gotten in trouble in class. It mirrored his recent troubles at home with not paying attention, goofing off when he should be working, and just being restless. It seemed to carry over in some things later in the day. He knew he was not on my good list so he busted his ass on homework. I rewarded that by allowing he and Dax both to start work on new Lego sets. Sadly, he still goofed off a bit in the evening at bed time, making for a couple of awkward mom and dad times.
Their Lego building has increased significantly. Dax, especially, has become almost obsessive with building elaborate sets. Ken said that he actually is quite advanced for a kinder student when it comes to set building. I suppose I should not be surprised when in reality the sperm that created them consisted of Lego.
I am trying to get us into a better nighttime routine so that we have a better handle on the wind down procedures. I am also hoping that they heed my requests to not fuck around this morning so that I can give them their beds back. I think that will actually produce an amazing night of sleep for them. I can’t imagine the floor is as fun as it was the first couple nights.
I finished the Hunger Games trilogy. I was so pleased with the ending. I won’t spoil it for the whopping 3 people I know who read this who have not actually read the books. I actually shouted out at one point when one of my favorite characters died. Thankfully I was on the treadmill at the time and no one was in the room. I actually lost track of time on the treadmill, walking for 35 minutes at a crazy fast pace with super incline.
I am looking forward to going to my parents’ house today to check on my dad. Hopefully he is up for visitors. I may go a little later than normal, or even bike up there since that would ensure that we don’t overwhelm my dad too much. Dax gets so pissy on these long rides, though, especially if we ride into the wind. I am hoping most of the surly in these two is used up in these little kid years when they are still cute.
The only real problem with finishing my book is that I now don’t have one that is jumping out at me to read it. I do have a stack at home, so I will probably pick one of them. Either that or perhaps I will use the recent styles of writing I have enjoyed, perhaps I will try to write a story of my own again.
Ok, I am crazy swamped being that I am covering for Maryann. Hopefully the day will fly!
