Holy fuck I am tired. Less than I was afraid I would be, but I am still pretty wiped out.
Thursday night kept us out late due to the AYSO board meeting. I did at least make the most of it since Ken and I rode our bikes there, which was pretty cool. It actually was also the first meeting in which I finally let down my hair a bit and was much more me instead of trying to just be nice. I had to snip at the Commish when he screwed up twice on checks, which he apologized profusely on. I explained that I was just fucking with him, and he seemed amused.
Of course, just as I am beginning to be able to read this guy, he is stepping down. Or more realistically, he is stepping up. He has been elected to area commissioner, which means we will have a new person in charge. Thankfully it will most likely be the co commish taking over. He is a sweetheart, but once again, I can’t get a good read on him. He did seem to find my helmet monkey funny, so I will take that as a good thing.
Since I ended up staying at work all day on Thursday, I took Friday off, partially in protest and partially because I just had so much to do!
We worked on getting prepped for the yard sale all of Friday. It included going up in the attic. Now, I know the idea of going in the attic sounds pretty mundane, but in reality, it was a mini victory for me. I have never been able to go up there. I was always afraid of falling through the ceiling due to my weight. I have climbed the ladder, but didn’t even think I could have squeezed through the opening. Yet on Friday, I was able to go up there and even sit up there for a while to get things out in order to toss/sell. Yay me!!
In the process, I also came across some old clothing of mine, including specifically a couple of bras that, wait for it, were 44 DD. And get this, they fit!!! Yes, that’s right, my DDD days may be behind me!! YAY!!!
Saturday morning, Ken and I got up at 5 to start trucking out the piles of stuff out to the yard. We hoped that we would have as many people in the early hours as we have had in the past. Sadly, people didn’t truly start showing up until about 6:30.
We had pretty steady traffic for a couple of hours. Our first hour or so we had higher prices. Mind you, when I say higher prices, I mean they were maybe a dollar for a nice button up shirt. We lowered them after that to $.25. We opted to just stack em deep and sell em cheap. Despite the freezing temperature when we were getting prepped, the day was warming up at an alarming rate, and Ken and I thankfully are both on the same page when it comes to what a yard sale is really for; it is for getting rid of shit quickly.
We sold quite a bit of stuff, including all the toys, the old bikes, Lego, and many other things. We were left with 2 couches and some other large items. Bulk item pickup will come and take care of those today. This leaves our garage quite clean. We have all four bikes parked in there, with room! Plus, we have the rescue cage at the ready (it is spring, and I always have to be prepped for a litter of kittens from work). I even cleaned out the fridge, making it a viable appliance again. YAY! Our driveway still has a few things, but one giant pile is stuff we will take to the Pedro E-Waste site next weekend, and another pile is all recycling that after two bins worth we had no room for.
The sale also cleared out two of the storage bins we have in the yard, which means we will be able to use them for things like maybe pool equipment or toys for the boys.
We took some items to Salvation Army around 11, which ended the selling day. We still had Easter eggs to paint.
We did 2 dozen. I was feeling less than inspired, which bummed me out. I hate it when nothing is coming to me. The boys had fun, though, so this was a good thing. I think we had just the right amount of eggs.
We spent some time making sure the house was in order since Katie would be coming around 6 to watch the boys so Ken and I could go and see April Foolishness. Dax, who loves Katie, still had his now standard breakdown when we left. It is becoming heartbreaking just how often his random bouts of separation anxiety cripple him. The only good thing is that they don’t last more than 2 minutes after we leave.
The show was incredible. The line up started with Larry King. Yes, THAT Larry King! He apparently has started doing some standup. But in reality, it isn’t standup so much as him just telling amazing stories from his past. He told a story from his jr high school days and I am telling you, it was brilliant. He was funny, and entertaining, and all in all, it was a great way to start us off.
Bob Saget was disgusting, but in a good way. The highlight of that was a couple of stories about him with Dave Coulier and John Stamos, which made me very happy. Jonh even came out on stage, which proved that even in person, that man is fucking beautiful. And, amazingly good sport!
Brad Williams, this midget comic, stole the show. He was charming, hysterical, athletic, cute, and just down right fantastic! He was the only one who got a standing o. It was well deserved, especially after he did a lap dance for Lisa May, which put any other acrobatic lap dances to shame, especially since these amazing feats were done by a dude who is only like 4 feet tall!
There was another guy, Tim Minchin, who did some amazingly funny songs. He was iffy at first, but he really brought it home, which was fun. Jay Mohr was great when he wasn’t doing impressions. Actually, he had probably one of the best jokes all night when he was discussing being high as a kite once. He was only listening to bands on his CD player that had 3 members because he didn’t think bands with more members would fit in the stereo. I can assure you, this is even funnier when you have ever been on some crazy narcotics.
Eddy Ift was good, as was Jim Jeffries. Jim Jeffries took it to levels that were so inappropriate, yet funny that you truly felt dirty and wrong by laughing. The show ended with Eddie Izzard, which was a shame only because he was clearly, intellectually speaking, way more deep than this drunken crowd had the patience for at 11:30. We had just spent 2 and a half hours listening to poop and fart jokes and now we were listening to theories of evolution. Many people started heading out early, I am sure because they wanted to beat the traffic and the fact that they just didn’t understand this intelligent comic. It was a shame. He was great! I think it was very disrespectful of them to walk out, but whatcha gonna do, right?
We got home around 12:30. I was exhausted.
As if being tired wasn’t enough, I started my period Sunday morning. It seems to be a doozy, too. Cramps and the works. I was beat from the lack of good sleep the past couple days and then my body was in a war zone.
Matt came over to hide eggs for the boys. I had purchased 288 plastic eggs and filled them each with Easter Bunny poop (jelly beans). The good thing about that many eggs is that with only 2 kids, the hunt takes a pretty long time. They get more out of the event.
I was also impressed with the boys and the fact that they didn’t question what was in their baskets. I only put a bunch of small candy, a Star Wars ball, and a book for each of them. They were both thrilled with the items, which was a relief being that I put way less in it than I would have in past years. In fact, the book itself was a huge hit. I found a National Geographic kids book on Tigers for Bobby. Holy crap, he was in love! I got Dax one on Marley, which he was excited on since he could read all of it! YAY!!
I spent much of the morning also prepping a turkey for dinner. I feel so grownup when I am in the kitchen on a holiday, making a huge dinner. It was kind of fun!
Matt bailed around 11:30 since of course, in his scheduled life, it was past lunch and he had not planned on hanging out with us the whole day. I invited him to stay (or at the very least come back for) for dinner, but he declined. It did mean that the rest of our day could be spent just chillin.
Not only did I chill, I napped. No joke! I spent some quality time on our new couch, which turns out to be crazy comfy. I hung out while Bobby played Star Wars Wii and Dax build a Lego set. I didn’t deep sleep, but it was relaxing. I was there a couple of hours. I finally opted to get up.
We hung out in the back yard for a while. I needed the sunshine and Ken and I did some minor cleanup from the garage sale. I still need to get out in the yard and toss a bunch of the toys out there that the kids don’t play with anymore. I figure summer is coming quickly, and I am hoping to have people over more often this year.
The turkey turned out quite well. The whole thing cooked so well that is kind of imploded a bit, making all the meat drip off the bones. It was tasty! Yay me!
The plan had been to watch Zombieland in honor of Zombie Jesus Day, but Dax was opposed to it. He said it was too scary. So instead we watched Up, something else I had a craving for recently.
The boys were I think just as tired as me. They were kind of weepy at night, especially since they knew they had to return to school today. Having a week off is tough when you are a kid. LOL!
Ken is back in classes today, also. So it means our household is back to normal. I am actually happy about this. Perhaps we can have a routine again. Granted, this Saturday will be nothing like normal. Sigh. We have a whole day of AYSO meetings. The only real issue is that we don’t have someone to watch the boys. Crap! We have to be in Anaheim by 7 am. The classes go until 5 I think. Although, my plan is to not attend the audit course. I am only going to do the treasurer classes in the morning. So this means Ken and I either need to bring the boys with us, which will probably not work well, or I just don’t know. Crud.
