trains

11-5-12
Yay Bobby!

I got to the school early enough to be able to get a front seat. In fact, when the second grade classes came in, Bobby and his class were right behind me which was awesome. He was the first kid to go up and accept what was called the Principal’s award. This was for excellence in mathematics and Reading. I prodded Bobby a bit later, and it sounds like he is one of two who turned in all 8 of the book reports for last month’s goal. Yay! Guess my crazy paid off in a big way. His certificate came with a handshake from the principal and a certificate for a free meal at Lazy Dog CafĂ©, which he was thrilled about. It was awesome to see him so proud up there.

Saturday was busy. We left the house by 7:15 to go to the field. The boys played really well, but once again, we just couldn’t close on our shots. We even dominated the game. Sadly, they scored two, one of which was a beautiful shot not even an expert goalie could have gotten.

We got home where chores and homework were the goals of the day. Both the kids did some work in the playroom and on their school work. I managed quite a bit of productivity, including some organization of the entry way and even the boys’ pj’s. I was very proud, but exhausted.

We went and helped clean up the soccer field and picked up Ken. It truly had been a long day for all involved. Dinner was at Islands, where we ended up running into Mrs. Kelly, which was fun. Bobby proudly told his old teacher how he got the award on Friday. She was proud of him.

Sunday morning we opted to ride up to Wilson Park to ride the trains. We have known about them for the longest time, but on run days we always seemed to be busy. We got there at a great time since the wait wasn’t long and we were near the front of the line. Yay! I had been nervous for some time to go on the train, too. I was worried I would break the tracks or something. The train was quite rugged and AWESOME! It was  a lot of fun, especially for a free ride. If it had not been so hot, we would have gone again. Plus, the boys were wanting to just go home and play.

Before the train ride, I noted that Bobby’s knee was bleeding. He had fallen at one point on the ride, but didn’t really note any injuries. It wasn’t a bad cut, More blood than anything else, really. He saw said blood and instantly went into shock. He freaked out. It was not the first time I have seen him do this, but it was a pretty extreme reaction to this particular kind of bleeding wound. Poor kid.

We managed to clean up the Halloween decorations in the front yard. We had not planned on it, what with the dry heat so prevalent, but then we heard that NB was out playing with the kids, so we went out to keep an eye on things. NB saw us and went home pretty quickly. I know he is aware of my feelings about him, so I think he bailed when he saw me. Ken also thinks that he left since he knew Dax had come in to tell on him and then we appeared. He has mostly left the boys alone, but he must have been bored yesterday. He has been hanging out with older kids lately. Sadly, he at one point was bored enough to go play with Anthony. He then proceeded to show him some porn on his little game machine, which was a big no no. Anthony’s gramma came over and told us about it to let us know. So NB is on the watch list in our neighborhood.
Last night I felt awful. Not sure what the fuck was going out. I had a splitting headache and felt nauseous and icky. I feel ok this morning, so I wonder if I was dealing with my PMS and the heat. Thank goodness I am not yucky this morning.

I am excited that in 2 weeks we go to Legoland. I am really looking forward to it. Not sure if Grandma and Grandpa Brenan are joining us.

I think I have a lot of work ahead of me this morning being that I was gone half the day on Friday. I suppose I will get to it.
